WHAT'S ON, WHERE?
THE LEGACY PROJECTS

Introduction
Much of the focus of the events for the 50th anniversary will be on activities that will enable Ghanaians to enjoy and reflect on the country's birth and evolution since 1957. At the same time, it will be very useful and pragmatic for those lucky to be part of the celebrations, to leave permanent legacies of this epoch-making landmark in our history. The objective of these Legacy Projects will therefore be:

To provide perpetual reminders to present and future generations of Ghanaians; but more importantly,

To be seen as useful testaments, which will contribute to improving the lives of our people and inspire them to greater commitment to our people and nation.
The construction of the JUBILEE LINE on London’s Underground Railway System to mark the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth’s accession to the throne of England, and the various MILLENNIUM projects undertaken by the UK Government to mark the start of the third millennium (e.g. MILLENNIUM STADIUM at Cardiff and THE LONDON EYE), are very good examples of the kinds of permanent and useful legacies that could be considered.

Seven Legacy Projects will be constructed to commemorate Ghana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations. They are:

Alma Mater Jubilee Legacies

The Jubilee Greening Initiative

Golden Jubilee Recreational Parks

Jubilee Kindergartens

The Kwame Nkrumah Chair of African Studies

Obelisks in all Regional Capitals

The Capital Gateway Arches

Renewal Of Infrastucture
