WHAT'S ON, WHERE?
  Theatre Performances  

The Slave March
It is an enactment of the event of the capturing, selling and the shipping of our ancestors into slavery abroad. It showcases the capturing, the way they were treated before shipping, also how our own brothers (Slave Masters) maltreated their fellow country men.

NB. This will be performed at Cape Coast through the town and end at the Cape Coast Castle and later in Accra ending at the National Theatre. Starting from 3 pm.

The Prince and the Slave
The play highlights a selfish chief who always sends his warriors on raids to capture and sell the captives into slavery. His son, the prince spotted one of the slaves and develops interest and later fell in love with her. Not knowing the background of the girl, the chief rejected the marriage proposal by the prince. The prince went ahead to marry the girl who was also unknowingly princess a princess from one of the villages raided by the chief’s warriors.

At the end the Prince after succeeding his father led a crusade against slavery and saw to its abolition. This will be performed at the National Theatre, Cultural Centers in Kumasi, Koforidua, Ho, Cape Coast, Tamale and any other venue that the secretariat will deem fit. Performance time is 8 pm each night

Declaration of Independence
Its an enactment of the event of the night that Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah the first President of Ghana with some of his colleagues from parliament went to the old polo ground to announce the Independence of the Nation. People from all walks of life e.g. Trans Volta Togoland, Ga, Central, North, Ashante and Western Regions will show the stuff they are made of by way of cultural displays.

This will be in Accra at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park on 5th March. The event will be preceded with a float though Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Osu to Arts Centre, Accra from 6 pm to 1 am.

28th February Cross Roads
An event that highlights the recruitment and the arrival of our soldiers to and from the 2nd World War, their discharge and their demand for their freedom and of service benefits and jobs promised them before going to the war, followed by the shooting event  at the cross roads to the Castle Junction, when they were marching to the Castle to present their petition. This led to THE ARREST OF THE BIG SIX suspected to be behind the march

NB: It will be performed at the National Theatre on 28 Feb. at 8 pm.
